Boise police arrest Bhutanese Refugee man for holding, kissing boys in Win

(Boise, Idaho)
Boise police arrested a man Thursday, Feb 27, after he grabbed and forcibly held and kissed two young boys in a crowded supermarket. The suspect was a stranger to the boys, police said. Netra P. Mishra, 27 of Boise, is charged with kidnapping and battery.Police detectives are searching for more possible victims. On Saturday around 12:30 p.m., Boise police were called to the Winco grocery store on the 8200 block of Fairview Ave.
Store security employees were detaining a man after a woman reported to them that the man had just grabbed, forcibly kissed and held her 5-year-old son. After viewing store security video, officers found the man had also attacked a 10-year-old boy in much the same way just prior to attacking the 5 year old. It appears the older boy was also shopping with his mother. However, it appears the boy’s mother didn’t see the attack, and the boy didn’t tell her after he ran from the man. Detectives have since located the family and interviewed the boy.Officers say the evidence indicates the suspect approached the first boy and talked to him briefly as the two walked behind the boy’s mother. The boy’s mother turned out of the aisle, and the attack occurred. The boy was eventually able to wrestle himself away and run.The suspect attacked the second, younger boy just feet from his mother as she picked out items from store shelves. The suspect apparently used his body to block the mother’s view of the attack. The mother turned and saw the suspect holding her son, yelled at the suspect, and he walked away. The woman then went and alerted store employees.
Boise police detectives have learned Mishra has only been in Boise for the past month, staying with family in an apartment complex near Hartman Street and Fairview Ave.
He speaks Nepalese and does not have any immigration holds, said police spokeswoman Lynn Hightower.
Anyone with information about Mishra or possible additional victims, or anyone who may have been shopping in Winco and seen the suspect or witnessed these attacks but has not been interviewed by police is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS. (IdahoStatesment online verson)

  1. .First of all this mans actions do not and should not reflect on the Bhutanese Culture The news agency was wrong in identifying the man as a Bhutanese Refugee…This is racism at its best and very discriminating to the Bhutanese Community,,I… am personally saddened by the resettlement agencies who profess to be professional in resettlement and the lack of and inability to listen to the voice of the various cultures who come to us through the resettlement process but try to coral people into their programs without the input of the cultures who come here…WAKE UP AMERICA THE VARIOUS PEOPLE WHO COME TO US ARE OUR NEIGHBORS AND FRIENDS THEY HAVE A VOICE AND A DESIRE TO BE AN ACTIVE COMMUNITY MEMBER GIVE THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK AND THEN LISTEN TO THEM THEY KNOW WHATS BEST FOR THEIR Communities See More

  2. Dear all,
This is the very bad news that we are hearing it,we have to take this matter as the serious case.It is not the matter of joke that we laugh at it,see till now non of the witness are with him.He had been leaving for 17 years in the exile before, let him not live again in the exile. So we all bhutanese have to realize it at once and we have to take necessary steps to relife him as soon as possible. This type of incident may occur in our life too,so we bhutanese families have to be very much concious in every steps of our life. There are many obstacles infront of us that we still have to face and know about them,we are the newly born child in this country. So lastly let all of us give hand to hand and help him to relife from the jail. Thanks and HAPPY NEW YEARS TO ALL THE NEPALI SPEAKING FRIENDS.

  3. iam very sorry to heard the comments that are commented by my people.let my people further would not comments so painfully, like before cuz i pray for god.

  4. I know this man very well. I am sad to read the comments on this issue by different Americans. They still have the hangovers of cultural post-colonization. It is not praise-worthy that Mishra did mistake but I would like to request the concerned organizations on refugee resettlement to take great initiatives to teach other refugees what is legal and what is illegal. The culture and the individual behaviour towards the children matter a lot. One needs to be transformed to culture of where he is living. As Mishra is concerned, he was a man always loving the children, always happy to play with the children. I should also mention that he is a bit mentally retarded fellow. I donot know what American laws say on this but I request the concerned authorities to take better steps for better life of these refugees out there. As i go through the comments on different web sites, I am deeply pained that they have not been able to judge what the real thing had happened, which cultural background had he come from and what intensions had he when he was with those children. I am in a big mess of what may happen further.

  5. Hi , i feel very sad by hearing this news. Yes, we loves kids and kiss too ,but it might be unappropriate to kiss any unknown child . lastly, i want to tell all the bhutanese reufgee to be aware from those conditions.

  6. it is very nasty to kiss any unkown child. Please bhutanese people improve your behaviour and don’t give wrong introduction of bhutanese people in the international area.
