A Bhutanese Refugee Suicided in Jhapa,Nepal.

Man Bir Magar, a resident of Bhutanese Refugee Camp, Beldangi-1(Sector B) jumped from the 250 ft. high Kankai Bridge into the river in Eastern Nepal under Jhapa district and ended his life on Sunday at around 9:30 Am. He died on the spot as per the Jhapa District Police. Phisically paralyzed, Magar had been missing from the house since a day before according to one of their neighbors.However, the reason behind his suicide hasn’t yet been known. As per an unofficial source, this ill-fated man jumped from the 703.20 meter long bridge,the longest bridge in Nepal, blindfolded.
This river is a sacred river and a popular pilgrimage site for the Hindus across the globe. It was on the bank of this river that the refugees from Bhutan were first settled in the early 90s. Later, having found the place not suitable for Human settlement, they were shifted to other camps.
