Resettled Bhutanese Introduces their Community in Syracuse.

Resettled Bhutanese in Syracuse, NY, organized a Cultural Program yesterday for the first time ever since their settlement there according to a participant of the program and a Bhutanese student, Puja. The program was organized at Franklin Magnet School basically to introduce the new Bhutanese community to others in the city.

Some 200 Bhutanese refugees, refugees from some of the African countries and a few officials from some of the organizations were present in the program.Young Bhutanese refugees in their traditional attire dragged the attention of the foreigners with their typical dance performance at the show.

Apart from dancing and singing, the Bhutanese also shared their dishes with others. Thus,this program didn’t only help the newly resettled ‘Lhotshampas’ from Bhutan introduce themselves to other communities’ folks but they also got chance to showcase their culture, costumes and Nepali food cuisine- Dal Bhat and Tarkari.
