Bhutan invites Pakistan and Maldives for SAARC Summit

Prime Minister of Bhutan, Lyonchhoen Jigme Y.Thinley has formally invited the Pakistani Prime Minister, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Maldives President, Mohamed Nasheed to attend the 16th SAARC Summit to be held in Thimpu in April this year.
Thinley’s special envoys,former prime minister and current Minister for Works and Human Settlement of Bhutan,Yeshey Zimba and Minister of foreign affairs, Ugyen Tshering, delivered the invitations to Mr. Gilani and Mr. Nasheed respectively today. The envoys  also conveyed to them greetings from the King and the prime minister of Bhutan.

Both the leaders thanked the  envoys, accepted the invitations  and requested them  to also convey their  best wishes and greetings to the King of Bhutan and the prime minister.

Bhutan is  hosting  the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit for the first time from April 28 to 29, 2010 in its capital city,  since the regional body was created in 1985.
