11 January, 2010 – The 19th round of Bhutan-China boundary talks will be held in Thimphu this week between the two countries, according to a press release from the foreign affairs ministry.
The assistant minister of foreign affairs, People’s Republic of China, Mr Hu Zhengyue, accompanied by senior officials will be in Bhutan from January 11 to 14.
The economic affairs minister, Lyonpo Khandu Wangchuk, who had earlier led the 18th round of talk in August, 2006 in Beijing, will head the Bhutanese delegation.
While in Bhutan, Mr Hu Zhengyue will also call on the Prime Minister, Lyonchoen Jigmi Y Thinley and other senior government officials, states the press release. “The visit of Mr Hu Zhengyue and delegation is expected to contributed to the enhancement of the friendly relation between the two countries.”
Since April 1984, 18 rounds of meetings had been held on the Bhutan-China boundary.
