Feb, 14 A representative group of Bhutanese refugees in Nepal has submitted a letter addressed to the Communist Party of Nepal (United Maoists) requesting the party to take initiation towards forming a high level executive committee that will work towards finding solution to the refugee crisis.
The group co-ordinator for eastern Nepal, Mr Phurba Lama handed the letter to Maoist leader Dr. Babu Ram Bhattarai who was in Urlabari, Morang last Friday.
According to ‘Purba Sandesh Dainik’, a local daily published from Damak, the group has appealed the party to take the issue of repatriation with high priority to the parliament. Also, it is stated in the letter, as per the local daily, the High level committee should play the role of pressurizing Bhutan and India in the forthcoming SAARC summit to be held in Bhutan, to execute the repatriation option of more than half of the refugees living in Nepal.
The letter also states that resettlement has brought conflict in camps and that it can not be the durable solution to solve Bhutanese refugee problem.
This is one of the many steps Bhutanese has taken over the past with the hope to hearing positively from the concerned but to no avail.
