20,000 Bhutanese resettle in third countries

Over 20,000 Bhutanese refugees have left for third country settlement from various camps in eastern Nepal since the resettlement process began in November, 2007. According to a press statement issued by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) on Thursday, the United States has accepted 17,612 Bhutanese refugees for resettlement, the largest number among the host countries. Most of them have resettled in Texas, New York, Georgia, Arizona, Pennsylvania and California states. Continue reading
