Today is the Memorial Day, a federal holiday passed by Congress with the National Holiday Act of 1971. Initially known as Decoration Day, it is a day observed in the United States on the last Monday of the Month of May, with different programs remembering those who have sacrificed their lives serving the nation for the betterment of the citizens. Many observe this holiday by visiting cemeteries and memorials. While some organize picnic, barbecue,swimming, family gatherings,etc. A national moment of remembrance takes place at 3 p.m. local time, the national flag is flown at half mast for the whole day honoring the great dead souls.
