Bhutan agrees to resume Bilateral talks

Bhutan has agreed to resume ministerial level bilateral talks with Nepal to discuss on the issue of  its citizens who are languishing as refugees in Nepal, according to Kuenselonline.  During a short meeting with the Nepalese PM, Madhav Kumar Nepal yesterday in Thimpu, Prime minister of Bhutan, Jigme Y. Thinley expressed Bhutan’s willingness to put an end to the  refugee problem through bilateral dialogue between these two neighbors. Continue reading

Rizal appeals SAARC Leaders

SAARC to be held in Bhutan next year.

KATHMANDU, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) — The 16th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Summit is scheduled to be held in the Bhutanese capital Thimphu on April 28-29, 2010, a Nepali local media reported on Saturday.

According to eKantipur.com, the Maldives, which was supposed to hold the Summit in 2009, expressed inability to organize the event because of poor economic condition. Continue reading

Finally Bhutan, a tiny Himalayan kingdom between China and India, is ready to host the 16th SAARC( South Asian Association for the Regional Co-operation) Summit next year in its capital, Thimpu, for the first time since this regional fraternity was established in 1985 in Bangladesh,according to Kuenselonline, the daily news site. Prime minister, Jigmi Y Thinley has proposed the dates of the event as April 28 and 29, 2010 which is yet to be confirmed by other member nations. Continue reading
